Sarah will talk about raising the profile of PR as a career choice among a more diverse range of people, explain the importance of inclusion in the workplace and give some tips on how recruitment efforts can be improved to improve diversity in teams.

Experts led discussions about specific areas of PR and Communications, giving you the chance to exchange ideas with peers.

Planning, measurement and evaluation

Penny Arbuthnot, MD of Genesis PR

Chris, Penny and Laura will lead an interactive session about evaluating the impact of PR and the importance of solid planning, providing examples of approaches to measurement and evaluation and the reporting techniques that they have found to work successfully in their respective environments: freelancing, agency and in-house. A chance to discuss your own ideas and measurement challenges with peers, as well as understand more about using outputs and outcomes to demonstrate value and results. This isn’t one to miss!

Issues and crisis prevention and management
Magnus Carter,  CIPR Trainer and Reputation Management Consultant

Magnus will lead a session on predicting and preventing issues and crises, and mitigating reputational damage when they do occur. An experienced trainer, Magnus will take the group through how to identify and prioritise reputational risk issues and how to turn them to advantage; how to define where reputational risk lies when a crisis hits, and how to respond effectively to that.

Internal communications
Sasha Watson, Senior Director, Internal Communications & Corporate Volunteering, ARM

Sasha will discuss the key challenges currently facing employee-facing communicators and the helpful technology, tools and frameworks she recommends based on a wealth of experience in internal communications at large, complex, multinational organisations such as AXA, Barclays and ARM.

Media relations in a digital world
Emma Duke, Head of Communications, Oxford Education, Oxford University Press

How do you get journalists’ attention in an era when they are deluged by emails and social media? Should we all be making more use of multimedia, or do traditional press releases still have weight? How should we combine traditional and social media channels to support the business strategy?  And how do I help the Board understand the importance of social media?! Ed and Emma will lead discussions around some of the key challenges and questions facing PR people dealing with the media in this digital age.
